The Team and Advisory Board
Aidong Lu, Professor in Department of Computer Science. Her research interest is data analysis and visualization on different platforms, including virtual, augmented reality, mobile, large screen, and standard computers; as well as visual interface design and evaluation through perception and cognition studies.
Xintao Wu, Pofessor and the Charles D. Morgan/Acxiom Endowed Graduate Research Chair in Database in Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department at University of Arkansas. Dr. Wu’s major research interests include privacy preserving data mining, spectral graph analysis based and deep learning based fraud detection in cyberspace, fairness aware machine learning, and big data analysis.
Weichao Wang, Department of Software and Information Systems. His research interest focuses on improving the safety and usability of complex systems such as smart grid, advanced manufacturing, and smart city environments. His background in wireless networking and cloud computing allows him to use state-of-the-art technology to help first responders and work force in related domains. His research has been funded by National Science Foundation, the Department of Labor, and Duke Energy.
Pu Wang, Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science. His current research interests focus on modeling, analysis, and stochastic optimization of networked systems, with applications in Software Defined Networking, Cyber-Physical Systems, Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks, Cognitive Radio Networks, and Electromagnetic Nanonetworks.
Abbey Thomas, Assistant Professor in Department of Kinesiology. Her research interest is in understanding the neuromuscular and biomechanical consequences of joint injury and how those influence post-traumatic osteoarthritis development. Her research has been funded by grants from the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association and National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research and Education Foundation.
Luke Donovan, Assistant Professor in Department of Kinesiology. Dr. Donovan’s research focuses on the neuromuscular and biomechanic impairments associated with lower extremity musculoskeletal joint injuries that contribute to the development of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Dr. Donovan has developed an impairment-based rehabilitation model that includes novel external focus of attention instruments to mitigate long-term consequences of musculoskeletal joint injuries by improving the associated neuromechanical impairments.
Wei Zhao, Department of Sociology and Organizational Science. His research interest includes organizational sociology, economic sociology, sociology of work, and social inequality. His recent projects have examined organizational changes and social inequality along with profound institutional changes in the Chinese society. He has also conducted a series of studies of institutional classifications and product valuation in the California and French wine industries.
Aixi Zhou, Professor and Chairman in the Department of Applied Engineering Technology at North Carolina A&T State University. His expertise areas are fire protection, combustion and fire systems, and composite materials and structures. His recent research in fire protection has been on damage mitigation in wildland and wildland-urban interface fires, fire and explosion protection in the built environment, engineered fire protection materials, and future firefighting technologies. Dr. Zhou is a licensed Professional Engineer specializing in fire protection.
Rob Fitzgerald, Captain, Charlotte Fire Department.
Miriam Martin, Senior Management Analyst, Charlotte Fire Department. She is responsible for advanced analyses related to resource allocation, service demand and performance, policy changes, ISO ratings, and accreditation. Her background is in geographic information systems, data analysis and visualization, predictive analytics, and strategic planning.
